[newbie] Looking for 2 computer TCP/IP open source arcade type games

I have a son that wants to learn to code. Nothing like taking things that work, dissecting them, and tweaking them a bit as a fun learning tool. Any suggestions? Java games, maybe? I'll be playing, too (code and game wise). Thanks for any suggestions, BobC
