Problem solved -- it was a case of RTFM, where "M" stands for mail. Dennis 
Myers suggested earlier today in another thread (very helpfully titled 
"Printer Question") that running printerdrake as su from a terminal would 
sort things out and, sure enough, it did. I'm still mystified as to why the 
printer configuration routine didn't come up during the install. Oh well, 
all's well that ends well. Thanks for your help.
