I hope this is an easy/dumb question. First, doesn LM8 when it's installed need configuration to make CDs and floppys able to mount? With RH7 I didn't have to do anything but stick a CD in and I could browse it. There were icons for the CD drives and floppy drive and I simply had to click on them and I'd be browsing. For some reasong neither CD drive or floppy drive can be mounted. The hardware is recognized at boot. I can see all devices in harddrake. I also see them lined up under Inf0 -> block devices For instance, my primary CD drive is shown as Device: /dev/cdrom Mount point: /mnt/cdrom The error I get when I attempt to mount is: mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device I get the feeling I just need to edit something somewhere, or start something up, but I don't know how or what. Sorry if this is a stupid question. The howto was more about installing drivers, and the command line stuff returns the same error. And yes, I do have a CD in the drive :-) Thanks, Eric
