[newbie] No Midi Sound

I am running Mandrake 7.2 on a new PC from ASL and can not hear any Midi
output. The sound card is a Soundblaster Live! Value. ALSA is installed
and seems to be working. I can play .wav files. RealPlayer works. Gnome
desktop sounds work. Both Konqueror and KMid open Midi files and appear
to play them, but there is no sound. All of the levels on Aumix are
turned up. I can open the KMid Channel View and watch it play the piano
keys, but there is no sound. 

Any suggestions?
