Hi,
Sometime ago a member had some problems with formatting - msdos - ext2 -
mounting and copying files on
a floppy.
After some tests the following...
IF you will use the floppy only on LINUX then there is a advantage using
EXT2 over msdos - LONG file names is available.
Try the following..if using mdk9.1..
Put floppy in drive
#su
#umount /mnt/floppy (to make sure it is not mounted)
#mke2fs /dev/fd0
#mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
IF all OK then..
#ls /mnt/floppy
lost+found directory should show.
#cp xxx??? /mnt/floppy/ (xxxx??? - your files)
#ls /mnt/floppy
Your files should show.
IF all OK then..
#umount /mnt/floppy - this will force linux to write buffers to disk
(IMPORTEND).

**********If still problem then try GUI like this...

I also had problems with fdformat to make msdos - it refused to mount. On
the following it worked every time.
Mdk9.1>

#su
#umount /mnt/floppy (to make sure it is not mounted)

start -> Configurations -> Hardware > KFloppy (this one is like format in
windows - can
do DOS or EXT2 - I like it - it worked every time on both OS formats).

Mount and the rest as above.
Enjoy
Johan

May this be a good day for learning
