It saves png files that are often a bit too big to include on a list post (if it pushes the total over 100kb it is bounces, and attaching seems to use a big overhead, so you need to stay below around 60kb of the pic). If I'm going to send them to the list I tend to open them in gimp first, crop away the part that isn't needed, and if necessary increase the compression factor. Sometimes, as in this case, it has to be a jpg to get it small enough.
