[newbie] Some minor difficulties...

Hello folks,

I just installed Mandrake 5.3 on my machine and I'm having some problems.
I can't get my floppy drive or my CD-ROM drive to mount.
I get invalid block device messages when I attempt to do so.
That and I cannot get my sound card to work.
I have tried using sndconfig and it mentions something about inserting
VERIFYLD N in the script, which leaves me clueless.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!
