Having become convinced that something was fundamentally wrong with my installation of xfce4, I uninstalled the lot and attempted a fresh install via urpmi. It failed due to unsatisfied dependencies. Evidently xfprint was required. Installation of xfprint failed due to the absence of a2ps which
