I know USB drives have been discussed to death, but I just can't seem to
get to grips with this one.
I have an Imation 256MB USB 2.0 drive, a clevo 400-something laptop(it's
a different brand, but the system identifies itself as a clevo) and
Mandrake 10.0 on it. USB 1.1 drives work perfectly, automount and all,
and I can get the Imation drive working on the COMPAQ 400mhz with USB
1.1 that I have at Uni. But usb2 with usb2 doesn't do anything. It
doesn't even come up with USB view.
My dmesg gives the following:

usb 4-3: new high speed USB device using address 3
scsi1 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
  Vendor: Imation Model: USB Flash Drive Rev: 2.00
  Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
sda: Unit Not Ready, sense:

sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
sda : status=1, message=00, host=0, driver=08

sda: assuming Write Enabled
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
 /dev/scsi/host1/bus0/target0/lun0:spurious 8259A interrupt: IRQ7.

My modprobe.conf looks like this:

alias
alias autofs autofs4
alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394
alias eth0 8139too
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 && {
/sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss; /bin/true; }
install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe usb-ohci; /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd; /bin/true
remove snd-intel8x0 { /sbin/modprobe -r snd-pcm-oss; } ; /sbin/modprobe -r
--first-time --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0

And I have to admit that my linux skills have just about been depleted
by finding these two messages based on FAQs out there.

Thanks
Andras
