Found this on the forums and it does work, you get an error message popup when you start/restart kde but it can be ignored and closed.
Go to usr/share/services/kded/ and edit the last line of mountwatcher.desktop from X-KDE-Kded-load-on-demand=true to X-KDE-Kded-load-on-demand=false The author, hzarrouk, says this tip has already been posted on Mandrakeclub but I missed it, so thanks to hzarrouk and the original author -- http://www.poogle.co.uk
