Dear friends: Thanks so much to all of you for your help. OK, I feel like an idiot. But, you all know (putting on my Chinese wise man hat :) if you fail to get past the first step of a set of instructions (no matter how simple), you'll never get to the next step. (Taking off his Chinese wise man hat in embarrassment :) I was copying a menu item from Utilities I to the higher-level KDE menu instead of to the Utilities II menu. That's all it was. Create a submenu, then open one submenu, copy, then open another submenu and paste it into the submenu, not the big menu itself. And that's all, folks!!!
