[newbie] Voodoo3 question

In trying to get #D working well, I noticed this in my XFree86 log:


(EE) TDFX(0): DRI requires Voodoo3 or later, disabling DRI.

No generic here, it's a 3DFX Voodoo 3 2000. XFdrake and XConfigurator w/
expert both see it as a voodoo 3 2000. Any ideas?
