yep, here i am answering my own post again.
I finally noticed the scrollbar in the setup-->windows tab.
After trying some fonts i did find a bunch that work.

I just installed xfce off the 9.1 cds. The first time i clicked i saw a
menu with words. Since then, all i see is underlines and periods. (if only
