Hey,
  When I attempt to get backtraces from gdb (either from
bug-buddy or manually from a core file) they often times
do not contain *any* useful information.  I can provide
an example if it becomes necessary (I don't have one
handy at this time).  Suffice to say that what a bt
reports is only signal information, and not enough to
do any sufficent debugging.
  Is this because the program was compiled without
debugging symbols?  Much of my software is installed
from RPM or src.rpm files -- maybe these have debugging
symbols turned off by default?
  Please help...
