Hi

(my first posting. I've just installed Mandrake 7.1 on a Dell Pentium
Laptop with a 1 gig partition. Everything went well the second time
(first time i tried a windows install with not enough free space and I
lost everything on my computer!). Therefore three days later I am
finally back to where i was......

However, I would love to get a simulator which i have downloaded
from berkely called ns working on my machine... however it is failing
to recognise that i have gcc-2.7XXX (default installation that was on
mandrake after installation)... I have tried to download other gcc
compilers in RPM format but the package installer wouldn't let me
install them as I had gcc already on the computer. I have included
the linux..i586..mandrake gcc compiler (cpp) file and (gcc) file in
another directory on the defualt path in the .cshrc, .bashrc and .tshrc
files (as I wasn't sure which one is the one that sets path variables in
the bash shell.

I know i haven't been too specific but I was wondering if someone
could see through the mess of things I've written and provide a quick
solution to my gcc compilation problem.

Cheers
KEvin Curran
