Hi. Has anyone had luck with getting any of the Nikon digital cameras to work
with Mandrake 8.1? Specifically, the usb connectivity?

I read a page on the web, pointed to by gphoto.org, which says that the camera
can be accessed as a mass-storage usb device, using the scsi subsystem:

" When configuring the kernel you must enable SCSI support and SCSI hard disk
support as well as the support for VFAT file systems, as the storage of the
camera is accessed as a VFAT partition on a SCSI hard disk. Of course you must
enable USB support and USB mass storage support and the USB controller you are
using (UHCI or OHCI)."

It says that the 2.4.18-pre3+ kernel is required.

Also, if I install the kernel from the rpms from mdk, how do I enable scsi
support, and scsi hard disk support? Is it a lilo option, or some file in /etc?
Or maybe its a kernel module? Similarly, how can I enable vfat support?

thanks for your help,
Vijay
