Hello everyone, I have a question about a specific modem. I was able to get Linux 7.2 installed on my Toshiba Laptop.... working great--using pcmcia 33.6 x-jack modem............Love using linux. I also have a IBM P350 166 that I have installed linux mandrake 7.2 on but can't get the modem to work. Installed in the IBM P350 is a U-ESS56K another spot on the modem says Model ESSFMV...............It is an ISA modem not a PCI so I think it should be able to work......... does anyone have any ideas on where an EXTREME newbie like myself should start ? Or if this modem will even work with linux? I also have an External 33.6 USR Sportster that I did get to work at one time..... my kid moved the switches on the bottom and I don't know how to set them ---or I could use it......???? Anyone know where these switches need to be set too? I have read for hours and am frustrated with the modems on the IBM computer.. but I have been using my laptop with GREAT success. I have been reading all the posts and hope this is an appropriate question for the list. Thanks, Dave Crouse
