That should give you a transparant background.
Eterm 0.8.*, ~I BELIEVE~, gives you a transparant background
by default. But I don't know if that's the case. I do know

Depends on your console. If you're running Konsole (the default in
KDE) it's Settings -> Schema, then take your pick of the various
transparent styles.
