My son has a K7S5A   I knew when I bought it sound would be a problem, but
the price/performance was so good I reckoned it would be worth buying a sound
card for it.

As it happens I wrote to SiS about sound drivers, and after a few weeks they
sent me binary drivers for each of the kernel revisions from 2.4.4 through to
2.4.12
Great I thought! Mandrake 8.1 uses kernel 2.4.8.... Well the bad news is that
they did not work. It seems the MAndrake kernel is not sufficiently like the
standard kernel. So far I have not been brave enough to change my kernel, but
if anyone else out there is just drop me a line and I'll send you the
 drivers.

As for LAN my MB is without LAN. But have you looked at the SIS support page.
They have a LAN driver on there which I thought worked (Its source not
 binary)
