Hello Dan, This worked for me: Assuming you have the jdk downloaded and installed, just set a JAVA_HOME environment variable in your .bashrc file that points to the bin directory of your jdk: #for example: export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/src/jdk1.3.1/bin After a restart, StarOffice will find it automagically, or, if you haven't restarted you can just browse to it at the appropriate point in the StarOffice install, and it will recognize it and away you will go. HTH Edmund if you need mas detail lemme know... -----Original Message----- From: Lanman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] and how to get the "jre" running so that I can do a proper install of StarOffice or Openoffice completed. Thanks in advance for any help ! Dan
