I'm probably newer to Linux than you are, but from what I've heard, no Winmodem
does or will ever work with Linux. Best bet is to get an external one. :-(

Win Modems are lacking needed hardware that is replaced by Win dll's. You
can't use one under Linux - I have the same problem, and am hoping to get a
new modem soon.
