I'm installing LM 7.0 via
ftp install and all goes well until the installer tries to
retrieve mdkinst_stage2.gz - I always get the error message:
"Unable to retrieve the second stage ramdisk: Bad server
response". Can someone enlighten me as to what I am
of these problems !

I think I should first concentrate on the problem with the floppy and CDRW
my sound balster live seems to work fine, there have been some probles with
it though, you can get the latest drivers from soundblaster.
i'm not sure whats up with the floppy drive,
and what type of cd-rom drive do you have.
