[Newbie]Problem with resolution

Hi all, I have a problem with the resolution in my notebook.When linux starts and mounts the user interface I get a flickering and then it starts.and also the screens are out of the screen like I cant close them and minimize them.Whats the solution to adjust the screen resolution? shyam _

Apparently it was a hardware problem. I substituted an AGP SiS 305 card, redid xf86config, and now it runs fine. I have an SiS 305 but I am using the lesser SiS 6326 driver. Does any one know if there is a driver for SiS 305 and what it is called? Thanks for all the replies. John Culleton __

Peter, You might try the r128 driver. I have the All-in-Wonder 128 Pro; 'XFree86 -configure' always picks the ati driver for that card as well, even though it doesn't support it. So, I told it to use r128, and it works great! Sorry, don't know the path in question without looking. Josh
