Just FYI,
I just installed RedHat 7.3 on a Dell Inspiron 7500. I found that the
default install created an XF86Config file ( /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 )
which had too restrictive of a vertical refresh rate. This cause the
modes for 1400 x 1050 to be rejected by X.

Ok. I've just recompiled Xfree version 4.1, using exactly the same host.def
file.
Now Xfbdev always starts with the same colors, but they are a bit "psyco"
(pink foreground with green and blue foreground combination). So it
seems there's something wrong the palette or color definition.

Here's what I was given to find the core dumps
(All this is command line in Linux)
To find all "core" files you could try following:
"find -name core 2> /dev/null", takes forever thou.
You could even try this "rm `find -name core 2> /dev/null`" which will
try to delete all found files.
Paul,
Thank you so much for responding with anything!
I would love to get that information from you if
possible. As soon as I read that, I thought you
know that sounds entirely possible!
Thanks
Michael

I had a similar problem earlier this year (and late
last year). However it was a 3.3.* version.
What happened was that I didn't have enough space left in
/tmp for X to fully open.
I saw a reference to core dumps - I had to delete all those,
they're usually memory hogs and won't help anything at
Hi there,

Hi,
I need to get global key release events in my app, i.e. also if none of the
windows of my app has focus.
My app is based on Qt/KDE and I am able to get the key press events, but not
the release events.
I read some things about input masks, grabbing keys, and so on, but I don't
