[Newbie]XFree and nv driver

Hi everyone, I am running Red Hat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-4 and XFree86 Version 4.2.0. My video card is Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64. Just now I am running nv drivers ( the ones that come with the O.S. )My problem is that I cannot run X-window in depth 16 and 1024x768 resolution without getting anoying but
