and
XF86Config-4 for 4.x.x.
Switching from 3.3.6 to 4.x.x would only involve changing /etc/X11/X, this is a

Some Linux distributions donĀ“t install xf86 config by default.
or it is some other command : If you have Suse Linux then try
xfsetup

Solved by setrage-0.6 (http://www.cs.wcu.edu/~dstclair/programs.html)
new XF86Config (less mess too):
# File generated by setrage
Section "Module"
Load "dbe"
SubSection "extmod"
# Option "omit xfree86-dga"
EndSubSection
Load "type1"
Load "freetype
man! what a mess this config file is with all that commented out crap! How can you
find you way
out in there!!
1. you are using the driver ati why not r128? (may not make much difference but still)
2. I would nuke all the font paths in the section files and add load speedo in the
module section

Next problem: It now dies here instead:
make[4]: Entering directory '/usr/src/xc/programs/xkbdcomp/symbols
Stop.

Simon
