Hi I have a LAN set up. I use a netgear hub and reguler cables with RJ45 connectors. I think the hardest thing I found was getting up to speed on firewalling and once I understood the basics of proxy and TCP/IP I was away.
I have a Sun Solaris box and that was a right pain as for some reason it put the wrong details in /etc/hosts and I had to change the permissions and get some vi action going on it and about 5 other files!
