Hague Tribunal indicts Haradinaj

Pristina, 28.02.200511:15

The United Nations War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague has indicted Kosovo's
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj for alleged war crimes committed during the
armed conflict in Kosovo, Belgrade's news agency Fonet said, adding that
Haradinaj will be heading to Hague by the end of March.

The source says the information has been already confirmed by UNMIK's
Justice Department in Pristina.

"Haradinaj will resign by mid-March," Fonet news agency quotes a judge in
the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), who spoke on condition of anonymity. The
judge added that the United States and certain EU member-countries have
already given a go-ahead.

The same source claims that the information was kept classified and the
entire procedure was dragged out to prevent eventual violence not only
against Kosovo's Serbs but also against UNMIK staff.

The source says Haradinaj will be setting out for Hague peacefully as he
appears willing to sacrifice in the interest of Kosovo's future.

Fonet news agency quotes unnamed spokesperson of UNMIK as saying that
Kosovo's prime minister and former KLA commander Ramush Haradinaj will be
heading to Hague next week once the UNMIK chief Soren Jessen-Petersen
returns from his trip to US.
