LOCAL ELECTIONS IN MONTENEGRO
SUCCESS OF THE PRO-MONTENEGRIN BLOC

Podgorica - Local elections were held yesterday in 19 Montenegro's
municipalities. Unofficially, 71.4% of registered voters participated at
the vote.

According to the information of non-governmental organizations of the
Center for monitoring (CEMI) and Center for Free Elections and Democracy
(CESID), Montenegrin pro-independence bloc - Democratic Party of
Socialists (DPS), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Liberal Alliance
(LS) - retained its grip in 10 municipalities.

Pro-Yugoslav coalition - Socialist People's Party (SNP), Serb People's
Party (SNS) and People's Party (NS) - can form authority in 8
municipalities, while in Ulcinj three Albanian parties obtained absolute
majority.

According to the first analysis of yesterday's returns, the opposition
parties - SNP, SNS, NS and LS - marked a gentle fall on the republic
level, whereas DPS and SDP coalition marked a gentle rise.

The ballot took place according to the electoral procedure, and some
irregularities noted by observers did not significantly influence the
regularity of the vote - stated CEMI.


CHRISTIAN PORTMAN TODAY IN PODGORICA
CONTINUED SUPPORT TO MONTENEGRO'S ECONOMY

Podgorica - The head of the World Bank for the Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia (FRY), Christian Portman, will arrive today in Podgorica -
announce Podgorica media.

Portman announced that in his talk with Montenegro's legislators he
would discuss the planned investment project for the area of structural
adapting of Montenegro's economy. The World Bank is expected to approve
the project next year.

persons in Montenegro at the moment, which is 7.5% of Montenegro's

and more of them leave Montenegro, which in Montenegro's Red Cross
raised fears of a humanitarian crisis.

Montenegro's Government will keep on accomplishing its duties toward
refugees and displaced persons regarding their medical protection and
education, but problems concerning giving them shelter still remain

Podgorica - Direktor Svjetske banke za Saveznu Republiku Jugoslaviju
(SRJ) Kristijan Portman doputovace danas u Podgoricu. - pisu podgoricki

Portman je najavio da ce u razgovorima sa predstavnicima crnogorske
Vlade razmotriti planirani projekat investicija u strukturno
prilagodjavanje crnogorske privrede, koji ce Svjetska banka odobriti
sljedece godine.

 Podgorica - Na godisnjoj Skupstini Evropske banke za rekonstrukciju i
razvoj, koja ce se odrzati od 19 do 21. maja u Bukurestu, ucestvovace  i
Crna Gora.

Na tom znacajnom skupu, Crnu Goru ce predstavljati ministar turizma
Predrag Nenezic, koji ce imati izlaganje na temu "Aktuelna situacija
turizma u Crnoj Gori".

Skupstina Evropske banke bice i upoznata sa procesom privatizacije i
novim zakonskim regulativama u Crnoj Gori.

Evropska banka  pokazala je  interesovanje za privatizaciju i nove
investicije u crnogorski turizam - izjavio je za podgoricku "Pobjedu"
ministar Nenezic.





U CRNOJ GORI OKO 45 HILJADA IZBJEGLICA
STRAH OD HUMANITARNE KRIZE

Podgorica - U Crnoj Gori trenutno boravi oko 45 hiljada izbjeglih i
raseljenih lica, sto predstavlja 7,5 odsto ukupnog broja stanovnika
Republike.

Do sada je u Crnoj Gori djelovalo oko pedesetak medjunarodnih
humanitarnih organizacija. Medjutim, u posljednje vrijeme sve vise tih
organizacija napusta Crnu Goru, tako da iz crnogorskog Crvenog krsta
strahuju da moze doci do humanitarne krize.

Vlada Crne Gore i dalje ce ispunjavati svoje obaveze prema raseljenim i
izbjeglim licima, kada su u pitanju zdravstvena zastita i skolovanje,
ali problemi koji prate zbrinjavanje armije izbjeglih i raseljenih ce
ostati.
