just happen to love these bikes. I've had three 700s's and many more bikes in

The explanation would take too long and most here are weary of my tirades. You
only need Plasti-gauge and a torque wrench plus a decent micrometer. Install
the bearing with a piece of the gauge and tighten to spec. . Remove and
measure. Recheck your work a second time. If you have access to fine
HAHAHAHA right... ive been around bikes since i was six weeks old, i know a

You don't wanna hang on to that heap. It will only cause you troubles and
you should get rid of it. Tell ya what, because you're a new friend, and
because I like you, I'll take it off your hands for you. Hell, I might even
throw in $500 or $600

I just found out that it is a German made Pichler fairing. It has

the fairing comes off easily, and it looks pretty spiffy with all of the
fairing and bags on. The nice thing is the bike has a complete running
second engine with only 9000 miles on it, i pretty well have a complete
second bike also with 9000 miles on it, just no extra frame. i will

Wow, nice bike. That is a neat looking fairing, can you still get to the
engine with it on? Either way you should enjoy the bike once you get it back
on the road. Congrats.

You don't have the factory manual I presume. You'll need one soon.
Clymer is like the comic book version of the real thing unfortunately.

Ok. ok. It is going to come apart call of the torch mob! (I knew I was
going to get flamed for this) Lets keep this discussion positive.
The question on the table is how do I transfer the pretty color

Anyone?

I agree...if you are going to take all of that time to pull it apart, then
do whatever you can to replace parts. My theory: add up the time it takes to
take it apart the first time and not do it right...then times that by 2.5
for taking it apart the second time and finally doing it right. Being
so you take some short cuts and "limit your labor time on this" and end up with
an engine with new whatever you renewed and old bearings and worn surfaces from
what ever you saved with "limited your labor time on this". WHY BOTHER! save
your self a lot more time and quite now.

Restricting air flow effectively raises the fuel mixture. Are you sure
you're getting enough fuel? No clogs in the line or the fuelcock?

Tried starting the bike this morning and there doesn't seem to be any
improvement. It would 'bubble' along like it was trying to catch (it
acted like a weak spark) but again it took starting fluid and the
choke seemed not to play apart. Once it had 'caught', restricting

Ah... so the term is "piggy-backed." Interesting.
So you recommend the black bearing size. Any particular reason? Any
advice for matching "black" with a letter designation (a-f) on the
parts list?
Thanks for the help!
