That's a nice brain teaser. Without knowing your skill level I will start by
asking if you do your own work or farm it out ? The 400T has a very different
ignition system from most. At 29 years old a lot of different possibilities
exist. We can check each one. The process will be slow, bear with
I would be so very grateful if anyone can help me brainstorm why I am
blowing ignition coils on my 1980 CB400t. It started last summer with
an ever weakening spark. It got to the point it would only spark for
20 seconds and then be completely dead. I replaced the stator, with no
effect, then a new
If anybody buys this one, I have first dibs on the luggage rack. (if they don't

I read Mark's reply and I don't agree (no offense Mark) I would go for
less...much less. The '82 CB650 is a two valve, single cam engine and chain
drive, five speed. I had one and they're nice but not in the same league as the
'83. At 19k, the head cover should be worn at the rocker shaft bores.
Wuz about t'say the same thing myself: no guts no glory and man ya gotta give
love to a woman with a sidearm, but disagreeing? Gotta know what you can
disagree about. Thisis one of 'em...

Heard u talk, Mamma. U ain't no half-a-wit...And I agree. No half-wit
manuals. Factory uses tech writers of the higher or highest caliber. My uncle
helped write the overhaul manual for the 747, and believe me, he can write...

Yeah, Dennis, but these cretins are not that old, that their tickers would be
stopping, but they would really get a charge outta trying to tip it over...

Go for it. At least just for parts would be a great deal.

For $500.00 bucks I'd snap it up. NOW. The worst case would be you'd part it
out and triple your money.

Heck no! Factory manual here. I do not meddle with half-wit books as I'm only

Yesterday I looked at a 1982 CB650. It isn't running. The owner swore
it was running in the fall. It turned over fine and the tank is rusty
(he drained it over winter). I don't doubt that a good carb cleaning
would get it going. He has the front calipers off the bike because
they were stickin
Thanks for the help. After thinking some about it, I realized I still
had the Rifle SuperBike fairing that my sone had removed. I'm not
fond of the looks of it on the NH, but it's just collcting dust over
at his shop... I also have a Targa fairing from an SV650. It looks a
lot like the Tsunami
