My wife and i always talk about doing Alaska-Tierra del Fuego since we got
into bikes. It is true you need time, money and preparation, but at the end
of the day is about getting on your bike and doing it. I really hope we can
at least do half of it one day.

I can’t personally vouch for this, but it looks good. Only small cost and no
damage if it doesn’t work.
Compressed gas (nitrogen?= cold) and heat gun to remove dents.

I would do this, but the intake boots from a dealer are almost $30 EACH. I
don't mind a good used set, but since this is for the 650 and I'm not sure
that the bolt spacing is the same I don't want to go spending $35, let
alone $120, on parts I may have to turn around and resell (usually at a
loss).
Got a dent in my fuel tank. My fault, I was trying to get all the fuel out &
had it resting on a pair of jack stands. Thought all was good, then the tank
fell over & got dented. Should have drained it while on the bike. Lesson
learned.
My question - has anyone out there tried compressed air to
I have found that if the part is less $100, I get it from the local Honda
dealer. Genuine Honda parts are about the same price when you add freight etc
from a "discount" house. Plus your getting genuine parts. I do it when I need
parts. On fact, I ordered a cheap set of hwy pegs, $8.00 each & fo
Looking for the intake boots (cylinder side, not airbox side) and headlight
assembly (Bracket and all if you have it).
Appreciate any help guys; cheapest set of boots I'm finding is $35+ when
you take shipping into account, and that's not really money I want to spend
on an off chance they fit for
I liked that one.

Touring bikes and cruisers definitely make the most sense for the entry
into the market. The market is HUGE, torque is valued, fuel economy is
valued, raw power not so much. Entry price into some of them i
I think I'd rather do Canada and Alaska. That would be after the Pacific North

They've been around almost as long as the other one mentioned; not doing

have more than their prototype "Done."
Like I said in the other thread, the idea won't catch traction as long as

not south america... but i have for about 10 years not i have wanted to
build a pair of hybrid diesel electric bikes and do the permiter of the
US.. then hopefully sell the design and one of the 2 prototypes to a
company (perferably honda) for enough money to live comfortably (but not
luxurious)...
Ever since I watched "The Motorcycle Diaries" (which I've done about 8
times now), I've wanted to ride from Argentina to Venezuela. Call it my
"Victory lap." Well, this past May I did a 3-day ride on a rented Honda
NX400 Falcon from Cuzco, Peru to Machu Picchu and back and it was
outrageous! I
diesel touring just make sooo much logic... if i cant find one by the time
i have the boney to buy one, im just going to make one..
