MEK is a common paint thinner, I use it for thinning lacquer paints for
spraying, and cleanup. Real nasty stuff.

While it might have MEK in it the color and consistency is different from MEK.

Something I did with the Goldwing I had was similar was to use the Yamaha

with that, because is much more aggressive than Seafoam. First you empty
the bowls completely. Then you need to make a mixture of gasoline and the

Thanks, that is pretty much in line with everything I've read about the
subject. It's good to know the pros are doing the same thing.

When i sold my 250, the tank was empty, but i put a can of seafoam in when
loading it on the trailer. The guy test drove it for about 30 min and
finally came back (ran out of fuel in his parking lot)
So yes, it will run on straight seafoam, but its not happy (and smokes like

It can, but it wouldn't *run* on it. You would have a horribly lean
mixture, poor idling, and utterly no power under way because of poor fuel
quality of the cleaner.
An efi bike, with the feedback loops associated with such sophistication,
would handle it better but still would be poor.

Graham, that's drop-dead gorgeous.

I read somewhere, maybe on this forum, of a technique of running a bike on
a hand-held bottle of gas and pouring in Sea Foam until the engine stalls.
Then you let it sit for a while, finally emptying the carb bowls and then
reattaching the main gas tank. Sounded worth a try, so I decided to do t
Ok, I've never heard of the vibrating plates thing and I agree it has no merit.
Also I wasn't talking about charging at such a high rate to boil the battery.
In fact when you charge you should not let the battery get warm. No matter what
battery chemistry type. However what I have learned from f

Graham,
That's a sweet outcome. I'm very happy for you and all of your family that
it turned out so well.
Cheers from way down south,
Dennis

My wife & I went to the local Yami/kawi/ktm/kymco dealer & tried a Kimco
downtown 300 for purposes of getting on/off & comfort. It passed the test.
Thank you,
Ross

Ok, slow evening here so i will try to explain quickly.
Build up on the plates on battries occurs when they sit discharged for any
length of time. The theroy behind a high rate charge to break up the
sulfate comes from the thought that it will vibrate the plates and shake it
off (people have even

+1 but they only work to maintain a topped off battery. If you charge a low
battery at low rates it will not remove the sulphur from the plates to put it
back into suspension. The end result is a shortened he battery life, and lower
current holding capacity. Quick charging has its place in overa

I use a combination of a car charger that does 100 amp start assist, and 2 amp
charge with shut off. And a battery tender that does .7 amp. The car charger
works to start a bike with a dead battery for testing, and the 2 amp is a good
rate for charging/ desulfication of a low battery.
