Is the knocking top end or bottom end? If top end, have you tried running
some Marvel Mystery Oil through the engine oil to flush out the hydraulic
tappets?

Put it on the center stand to work on it. You can put a 4foot long 2x4 under
the rear wheel to help lift it up to get the shocks lined up when done. Easy
peasy. Great buy!

No need for any kind of spring compressor the rear shock units will only
expand to a certain length, and I'm pretty sure you can unhook one side at
a time to get the tail cowl off so no need to prop up the back end. As for
torque on bolts, my general rule is use locktite on things that need to

I recently purchased my first motorcycle ever, a 1999 Nighthawk 750. It's
in great shape except for a few things that I am fixing. The turn signal
stems dry rotted so I have some replacements coming. Also, the tail light
is loose from the cowl and I believe the part inside th
