I second this, there's no point in only cleaning 2 of the 4.

Yes, I have done it but it’s better to remove carbs and clean them all,
besides they all probably need cleaning, not just the outer two.

Seems like the consensus is clogged slow Jets. Do you think I could drop
the bowls for the outer 2 carbs while they're on the bike? I have an angled
screwdriver to reach the inner screws.

That's actually got some logic to it.

Oh, nevermind. Back of the line then :P

I recently leased a sizeable storage unit for pretty cheap
(15'x15'x12' for $125/month) and have started moving all my crap
there. It has a built-in mechanism for disposa
Back in the 80's, I moved my CB550K from Cleveland, OH to Denver. I don't
believe I did anything to it regarding the carbs. I now live in Atlanta,
but I just got back from a visit to Denver on my bike yesterday. I
certainly didn't do anything to it, and it rode fine, although I never went

Not true. But you may need to adjust your air/fuel mixture screws for
overall running performance. Just ride it and see.

Agree with above. Your slow jets are clogged. When you use choke you dump
extra fuel in carbs. With out it, you rely only on slow jet to idle and to
about 1/4 turn of throttle. Clean them good. Not hard to do.

I tried an EBay solenoid and you are correct. It sucked.
I found a new one at cmsnl.com. Pricey, but should last 30 years.

Revs properly with all cylinders firing with choke still on or off? If it
idles only with choke on and revs only with choke on then carbs need
cleaning. Has bike been sitting for long time? The fact that it only idles
with choke on tells me carbs need cleaning
