I have two issues, actually. The bike is an '85 CB650SC Nighthawk. I recently
acquired a nail in the rear tire so I went about putting on a new one. After
this process my gauge light for the tail light is lit (red) and the light does
not come on unless I depress the brake. Any idea what I
I had to replace the valve stems on both the front and rear tires recently
and after reassembling the bike, everything seemed to be in order. I just
happened to check the back brake and after applying pressure, the brake
pedal would not return to the up position (other than doing it manually).
near the pivot.

the problem could be in the backing plate where the brake
cam goes thru the backing plate. I'd hope this was cleaned and lubed
when shoes went in, but you knowtake a good look there.

try bleeding it again. It's a real PiTA to get all the air out of that
line, just because fluid is coming out the other end doesn't mean all the
air is out. You're looking for a tool called a MityVac to help you bleed
it.
