I recently increased my idle speed. Will this affect my gas mileage.
Any thoughts would help. Also, what are some gas mileage stats for
83-85 Nighthawk 650s?
Thank you all,

Thank you,
I called a local Honda Shop and found the filter for 7.98 and the
"crush" washer for .47. My mechanic just changed the oil without
replacing the filter and said these bikes did not have a replaceable
oil filter. Maybe he will make it right by changing the oil for free
next time.

I have a set of aftermarket rear stays I'll let go for 12 bucks plus
shipping. I paid twice that, but the hole for the wires seems too
small. I've read here that you can just drill them out.
Also, does anyone have 1 OEM rear stay availabl?. Nytwing if you are
out there, I read an earlier post sayi
some at idle. I know these bikes do not charge well at idle and
he seemed to think raising the idle speed was a great idea.
What do all of you think? What are the pros/cons for a higher speed on
these 83-85 650 Nighthawks?
Any comments would be appreciated.

iting that went along with it. Also, it has helped my
cold starts. I used to use throttle and choke at the same time and
often would flood the bike. I know these bikes can be finicky at
times, but this method has helped me a bunch. Hope it can help someone
else.

Greetings,
I wrote earlier about my tail light and dashboard lights being out on
my 650 Nighthawk. After tearing off the seat to replace the bulb and
taking way too much time checking wires and cleaning contacts. I
finally found the fuse box UNDER my headlight and replaced a 15V fuse

I drive a 1984 650 Nighthawk. Great bike, but I am tired of duct tape
holding on the rear rubber stays. Does any one have a set of rear
rubber stays they would like to sell me for a good price? I live in
Colorado.

my turn signals to become running lights. As my bike is now, I can not
drive at night :( Any ideas would help :-)

I have a new left food peg for my bike and need to replace the old

Looks like you have got some good advice. Graham and HotrodMamma are
right 83-85 NIghthawk 650's or even 550's are way better than the 82
version you are looking at.They are a different animal. As for your
mechanic saying to stay away, I disagree, 83-85 NIghthawks are solid.

By the way being an 1984 Nighthawk my bike is now 25 years old and I
got a Colorado Motorcycle Collector plate put on. It is good until
2014. I will post some photos of this plate and bike on Paul's Page
sometime. :)
