So I took the forks off, drained them of the fresh atf, and dug into the Trac
system. It definitely needed cleaning.
Cleaned and lubed Trac, put it back together, filled the forks with 15w fork
oil with the specified amounts, pumped them to get the fluid throughout, then
measured the levels. L
The main reason I am trying to tighten up the front while putting off a
complete fork rebuild, which I don't have all the necessary tools for, is
because most my workspace is taken up with my 84 700s, which I've removed the

found oil capacity listed as capacity, not as level or distance from top, which
