hey buddy,
your starter is probably the culprit here, as with all electric
motors, time and heat are their worst enemies, and on a 27 year old
bike, the starter has seen it's share of both.
remove the starter and clean both contact points and also bench test
it cold, then put it in your oven and

spray carb cleaner or spray gasket remover will remove the clear coat
nicely, and a tube of semi-chrome polish and elbow grease will make
that aluminum shine like new money!
however i would suggest painting it black for the heat dissipation
benefits.

pull your tank off and remove your coils. you can try to dry them out,
but the best fix is a replacement for them. and try to clean ALL
electrical connections . look atyour wiring as well, when wires get
old the insulation sometimes cracks , add a little water and you get
a mess. good luck

no problem, one other thing, get the torque specs for ALL nuts and
bolts that you remove and adhere to them like gospel. over torqueing
your front axle will cause your new bearings to fail prematurely. and
use blue locktite (permatex part #24240) on your caliper bolts and
axle nut.

kyle look at the pic that paul posted, it is a GL1500, the vids you
posted the links to are all '06 or '07 GL1800's look the same but are
completely different animals, no offense meant but as a honda tech, i
have seen many cracked 1500 frames, as well as several early 1800
farmes. im not saying
no they werent dogs, they really are fun bikes to ride, however i

the extra ground solves the symptom, but the problem is corrosion
