Has anyone noticed any reason why there should be such a huge price
difference in air filters?
I purchased one of the cheaper versions and could hardly notice any
difference.

CV carbs need the constant non turbulent air the airbox provides to operate
the slides properly. The people who I've seen have the best success using
them put velocity stacks between the carbs and the pods and also shields on
the outside pods to keep them dry in the rain and to prevent turbulence

Pete, why do you want to do that?
Are you hunting an aesthetic? Performance?

I was thinking it would be kinda cool to make a compartment to store stuff
where the stock air filter sits or put a gel battery there or under the
seat. My bike is pretty trashed so I'm thinking of different ways to do
stuff instead of buying OEM parts.

Which is why it won't save you any money, between the cost of the jet kit
and the extra gas you'll burn over the years you might as well stick with
the air box.

What do you guys think about a custom air filter? I'm thinking about saving
money and connecting a couple air filters to the rubber pieces that attach
the carbs to the box. Too crazy of an idea?

this guy has been trying to sell this Uni air filter for a while. It
fits a 650 nighthawk 83-85. Don't know if he will ship.

Hey everyone, just figured I would share my recent findings regarding
an air leak so hopefully it will help someone else resolve the problem
faster.
My bike is an 83 NH650. It's been losing power at higher speeds,
especially when it's windy/gusty out. It pretty much forces me to
draft a truck o

Does anybody know
Eric,
this is a very simple task. The only tool you need is a Phillips screw
driver. Take out the seat. Then take out the left panel (just pull it out,
they have no screws or bolts or anything like that). You are going to see a
square black box, with 4 screws. Take the screws out and open the airbo
Does anybody know of a good link with pictures or just a general procedure
for replacing the air filter?

Uni sells a service kit (oil and cleaning spray) I can't remember how
much though $20 ? I would imagine you could get a couple years worth
of cleaning an re-oiling from it. The oil is this sticky goop so I
don't think a regular oil would work.
