Well, I did a foolish thing. I bought a set of 83 forks for my 85
CB650SC. There's so much in common between the two years, that I
didn't expect the /forks/ would be different! So, the 83s are in
beautiful condition, not a pit or a speck of rust. I found and bought
the brackets that mount the calipers to the forks on ebay. Those
haven't arrived yet. If I read my BikeBandit parts correctly, the
actual calipers are the same both years, even though the TRAC systems
mount of the calipers looks different. I guess I'd better check if
both forks take the same axle and spacer and the speedometer gear
housing. And I guess I am assuming that the rotors are the same size
both years.

Someone out there must have tried this before -- any warnings, or
comments?

I just love this bike -- I've put on 9000 miles in just a few years,
and it was just lying on its side in someones garage on the way to the
south shore from Boston. It goes to Vermont, goes to the Berkshires,
never complains. So far, never breaks. 18,000 miles.
