Good question Lar... Theoretically I could have managed a little wiggle room if it was just the carbs I wanted. But then there's this... Engine comes out on Monday. Full rebuild. Wish me luck..

Its coming back to me... i dont have a CB650SC right now but i know the part looks familiar. Isnt there a spacer on the bolt on the inside of the plastic tail piece or there abouts under the seat? My question would be why are you removing all those parts to get the carbs off? Unless your 84 is way different than my 83 650 I just unscrewed the bands around the rubber parts at the back of the carbs connecting to the air box and worked the rubber parts off to give me lots of room to pull th
