By "standard automotive headlight" do you mean a crummy "sealed beam" style all in one headlight? Because if I recall correctly (been a while since I touched mine) the Nighthawk 650 has an H4 style lamp (with a motorcycle/wide base) and H4 style optics, which is the way good contemporary

Sorry to hear your headlight got busted up. Before even considering swapping to a round light I would do as much research as possible. I wouldn't think the round would use the same fuel gauge, or gear indicator sender units. As for mods you have a list there. Most people seem to just clean them up
