Its charging but enough to keep the battery charged. The stator tests good
all i can come up with is the rotor is week. I took it to a mechanic and he
came up with the same thing.

whats the ohms of the windings of the stator? thats how i found mine was
bad.

On Monday,
When I Ohmed each of the three legs of the stator to the case I had zero
and off hand i cant remeber what i had when I Ohmed each leg together

each leg to ground should be zero. measure each leg to itself is the true
test. a to b, b to c, c to a should be 5 ohms. mine was 6 ohms on each and
as long as i didnt use any extra lights or plug anything in it was just
enough to hold a charge. all three need to be 5 ohms.

if i remember right i had just over 15amps on each of the three legs when
its running. all three were equally the same reading

no, no, no, not amps, ohms, resistance. do NOT have it hooked to power. you
have to unplug it to read it anyway. try again.

oops you want ohms/resistance, NOT amps.

I understand. I was just checking different readings when i was testing
componets. When i ran out of ideas that i knew would have been a forsure i
took it to a guy on sat that works mostly on HD and i mentioned to him that
i though the rotor might be weak he called me later and said that thats
Thank you !

sure. it is a bit of a pain to replace a stator but if you know how to turn
a wrench then you should be fine. just double check what the ohms are?
