Try some Avon RoadRunners. I put a set on my 650 last year. A good
friend of mine who was the original owner of an identical '83 650 that
he commuted onfor over 125,000 miles and did spirited weekend rides

I just ordered a pair of Shinko 712 from BikeBandit. (They don't have
a 110/18-80, but I was told that the 100/90-18 would fit the front rim
of my '93 750 Nighthawk). These tires in particular have a great rep
with v-strom riders; I'll report once I get the tires on and put some
miles on them.

They hold the corners great and seem to ride a lot smoother.
