An old man in lowed told me a trick. Use steel wool grade . Won't
scratch the chrome, takes off rust and actually polishes the chrome. Weird
but it works.

I found a GREAT trick, no chemicals for removing icky spots from
Chrome. Mr Clean's Magic Eraser. It's a kitchen item, but it took
burned on rubber, tennis shoe gook right off the chrome. AND NO
SCRATCHES.
Just thought I'd spread the knowledge.
