Darin - So here's the scoop...
The bike had the original signals when I got her.
I bought replacement signals, stem and all, and specifically bought signals
with incandescent bulbs so I wouldn't have to get a new relay or mess with
adding capacitors.
The new signals have three wires, which means

I can find another bike to play with. This one needs too much. I understand
that bearing sleeves are no longer available and there are probably other
parts that would be hard to find. I had to cut the cam chain to get the
head and cylinders off. Much of this engine is going into my foundry pile.
I wouldn't part it out if you like the bike. You can find good used
engines, engine parts for these.
I have a parts engine, but no idea how good or useful it would be.

Thanks, I will definitely clean it all well when i dig into it - going to
wait until the parts arrive on Saturday so I can do it all at once. The
bike has 38k on it so the brushes are probably ready to get changed.

Cool, that's not too far. In fact I've been meaning to ride around that
reservoir. A few weeks ago I finally found some time to go with my brother
in law, and a few miles before getting there his clutch cable snapped. We
have to do a cheap fix and head back.

Hi Dan, I am in Belmont, MA. Where in MA are you? If you are not too far we
can try to get together for a ride. There are other members of the group in
the area, we could all try to meet.

I just found, on eBay, a pair of CB450SC carbs from a 1985 model - I
read through Paul's Nighthawk site, but I can't determine if there is
any difference in the carbs between model years. I would assume not -
but I also didn't like the price tag of the carbs I saw. Don
