Thanks for bringing this up, Graham.
I reported Flash as broken with our new chromium 54 build, because it
didn't work from a ./result directory.
Now that i've installed that build into my System profile, it does work.
It would be great to have clarity on the situation, so if anyone wants to

Nixos programs usually link libGL & co from /run/opengl-driver/lib via
LD_LIBRARY_PATH (set in /etc/profile), despite being compiled against mesa.
I'm not sure about the relation to your problem, but could the dynamic
entries you see, be created because of that?

To fix the horrendous glibc bug [1] on my system, without rebuilding my
whole system, I just rebuilt glibc with the fix from master. Then i just
softlinked older versions of glibc-2.21 to the fixed one, by doing the
following in a zsh:
