Both the service command and chkconfig commend work with systemd. At least
on Fedora. I would assume that this would be true for other distributions
as well. More about that in the Fedora wiki

When I talked about boot time, I was thinking about laptops running Linux.
You are right that in case of a server it's not that big of a deal. I don't
use sleep mode or Hibernate with my laptop, because it doesn't work well. I

Maybe I'm about to say something really stupid, but one of my favorite
features of upstart is the service command.

Now I'm confused. The 'service' script has been around for years as part
of Sys V. Commands like 'service named reload', 'service httpd stop', etc.
On the first upstart system I used there are new commands, so 'restart
apache2' or 'reload named' are used and 'service' has gone by the wayside.
Isn't there something equal to this in systemd? I have to Google

Ubuntu is moving to systemd. Apparently Debian Ubuntu at the end of the day.
My question is this, who will continue to use upstart?
Personally, I thought it was a decent
I lost traction in the init field a long time ago, so I liked that
upstart could run the traditional systemv init scripts too, which I'm
familiar with. However, during Christmas I was witness of upgrading more
Hardened Gentoo machines to systemd (form OpenRC). In terms of speed, it

Hmmm, I just see, that upstart was based on D-Bus too (good to know the
system I'm using :D)! So maybe the switch will not be as hard as an
OpenRC-systemd.
