I see, so it seems that we have to wait until v0.8 is released. So sad for
windows nodejs developers.

I ran I tithe same issue. It turned out to be the dependence with
dtrace. I emailed the author of restify and he said he's got a version
where dtrace is ootion. It will require npm 1.1.5, which isn't out yet
though,
and when restify is published at 1.3.0 we should be able to install
via npm on wind
Sorry. You don't need the formatters option.

Thank jg, but now I moved my dev environment to Ubuntu linux and everything
works fine for the moment. It seems Windows build of Nodejs isn't that good
enough to work with.

That'll do it.
I wouldn't say the Windows nodejs environment isn't that good though. I've
had a really good experience so far on Windows and Microsoft has been
putting effort into making nodejs run well on Windows and I'm NOT a Windows
fan. My household runs all Mac.

Just wondering, how many people actually deploy to Windows servers? It
seems supporting Windows takes some effort which could have been focused on
making things better on *nix servers. We virtualbox + mapped network drive
from ubuntu server (samba) to code in Windows. The low tech solution works
Even more importantly, in this case, dtrace will probably never be
ported to windows, so it really ought to be an optional dependency,
imo. https://github.com/mcavage/node-restify/issues/100 Go go open

It works fine in my Ubuntu linux setup! :)

A no node is fine on Windows. Node is more than fine on Windows, in
fact node runs faster on Windows than it does on Linux, and the entire API
is cross-compatible with any OS node supports. Where you'll run into issues
is outside the purview of node itself.
Personally, I spend the entirety
The short period of time I tried running Node.js on Windows made me more
religious. Each time I tried installing a module, I'd pray that everything
goes fine ;).

I would not have expected that. Are there tests/results/statistics that back up
this statement?

As I understand it, Microsoft wanted to help make Node work on Windows, and
their doing so hopefully did not adversely affect the dev
But there is another use case, that is interesting, at least for me:
Node.js on Windows Azure.
Some posts and projects

It could be nice to deploy lots of project to Azure.
